How to Know if a Food is Organic

If you want your family to eat healthy, environmentally-friendly organic foods, you may want to do a bit of research before you hit the grocery store. In order to be considered organic by the United States Department of Agriculture, certain guidelines and requirements must be met.
Sweet Wheat wheatgrass juice powder is 100% USDA Organic

To bear the green and white USDA Organic seal, a food product must meet the USDA’s strict national standards regarding the product’s growth and harvesting process. To start, a crop must begin with organic seeds and be grown using environmentally-friendly methods which conserve soil and water quality, all while discouraging erosion and encouraging land use that naturally supports biodiversity of the earth’s ecosystems. Additionally, the farmland used to grow organic crops must have gone without use of non-organic fertilizers or pesticide for at least three years in order to be classified organic.

The USDA has very firm guidelines regarding what the term “100% organic” stands for.  If a food or food products have been certified 100% organic by the USDA, you can rest assured that:

The food is comprised of all organic ingredients
Any and all processing aids used are also organic
Non-organic ingredients have not been used
The USDA seal is allowed to be displayed on the product

Some 100% organic foods and food products, such as Sweet Wheat wheatgrass juice powder, also bear the Oregon Tilth Certified Organic seal. Oregon Tilth is a non-profit research and education membership organization dedicated to biologically sound and socially equitable agriculture. Similar to USDA organic regulations, the Oregon Tilth provides a system which combines strict production standards, on-site inspections and legally binding contracts to protect the producers and buyers of organic products.
